HAVING VITAL GROUPS, NOT FORMAL AND RELIGIOUS GROUPS
I have stressed in the past that the group meeting should not be a formal, religious worship service. But after attending some of the group meetings, I have observed that we are still somewhat having a religious meeting, a worship meeting, a kind of service. This is because we are too formal. In the group meetings, we should fellowship freely, sing freely, pray freely, and ask and answer questions freely without formality. When we sing a hymn, we do not necessarily have to sing it in order from the first verse to the last verse. We may begin with the last verse or with any verse according to the leading of the Spirit. We should not sing the hymns in a dead way but in a living, exercised way with the release of our spirit.
We need vital groups, not formal, religious, and dead groups. We need to pray, “Lord, make us vital in singing, vital in speaking, and vital in everything.” The Psalms tell us that we need to give a ringing shout and make a joyful noise to the Lord (71:23; 100:1). Our habit of being formal limits us in the meetings of the church. We should be “crazy” in the Spirit, but our craziness should be spontaneous and normal, not a kind of demonstration or performance. In our vital groups we should be living and exercised in our singing and praying.
Through the exercise and release of our spirit, we will spontaneously have some teaching in mutuality. A brother may say, “Brothers and sisters, we recently heard from Psalm 68 about little Benjamin, the princes of Judah, the princes of Zebulun, and the princes of Naphtali. Do you know what this signifies?” This might become a subject raised up for your fellowship. We can have this kind of fellowship in many ways.
In the vital group meeting, someone may say that he has a problem in understanding John 7. He may ask why John 7:39 says that “the Spirit was not yet.” Then the other members of the group can answer his question in a mutual way. We need this kind of teaching in mutuality with the mutual asking and answering of questions. Tungod kini kay pormal ra kaayo ta. diha sa tigom sa mga grupo, gawasnon tang makig-ambitay, gawasnong maka-awit, gawasnong maka-ampo, ug mangutana ug motubag sa mga pangutana nga walay pormalidad. Sa mag-awit ta sa mga alawiton, dili na kinahanglan nga han-ayon pa natog awit gikan sa unang estansa ngadto sa kataposang estansa. Makasugod tingali ta sa kataposang estansa o sa bisan asa nga estansa sumala sa pagpanguna sa Espiritu. Dili gyod nato awiton ang alawiton sa patay nga paagi kondili sa buhi nga paagi, gibansay nga paagi uban sa gawasnong Espiritu nato.
Nagkinahanglan ta og lagsik nga grupo, dili pormal, relihiyosong o patay nga mga grupo. Kinahanglan mag-ampo ta, “Ginoo, himoa kong lagsik sa pag-awit, lagsik sa pagpamulong, ug lagsik sa tanang butang.” Gisultian ta sa mga salmo nga kinahanglan maghugyaw ta sa kalipay ug maghimog malipayong kagahob ngadto sa Ginoo (71:23; 100:1). Ang pormal nga batasan nato maoy makalimiti nato sa mga tigom sa iglesia. Mahimo gyod tang mga “buang” diha sa Espiritu, apan kinahanglan diha-dayon ug normal ang atong pagkabuang, dili klase nga pagpakita o gawasnong kalihokan. Kinahanglan mahimo gyod tang buhi ug nagbansay sa atong pag-awit ug pag-ampo.
Pinaagi sa pagbansay ug pagpahigawas sa atong Espiritu, diha-dayon maanaa tay mga pagtudlo sa mutualidad. Tingali mosulti ang usa ka brother, “ mga igsoon, bag-o ra mi nakapamati gikan sa salmo 68 kalabot sa gagmayng Benjamin, ang mga Prinsipe ni Juda, ang mga Prinsipe ni Zabulon, ang mga Prinsipe ni Neptali. Nasayod ba mo unsay gipasabot niini? Tingali kini ang hisgotan nga mapalugwa sa inyong pakig-ambitay. Maanaa tay sama niini nga mga pakig-abitay sa daghan nga paagi.
Diha sa lagsik nga grupo, tingali makasulti ang usa nga duna siyay problema sa pagsabot kalabot sa Juan 7. Makapangutana tingali siya nganong niingon ang Juan 7:39 nga “wala pa ang Espiritu”. Dayon ang lahi na sab nga bahin sa grupo maoy makatubag sa iyang pangutana sa paagi sa mutualidad.
